AirImage-COR measures and registers the change over time in the electrical resistance (ER) of a thin metal track applied on an insulating substrate. As the metal corrodes, the cross-sectional area of the track decreases, and resistance increases. The increase in resistance is used to calculate the rate of corrosion.

Corrosion can also compromise the integrity of electronic components reducing their lifetime and efficiency.
