Clean Air – benefits and challenges
Clean air - Human right?
From the very start, Camfil has phrased our vision as an important question; Clean Air – a Human right? With the UN General Assembly declaration in 2022 that everyone on the planet has a right to healthy environment including clean air, we are happy that the air we breathe gets more attention.
Energy efficiency
At the same time, delivering clean air in ventilation systems consumes energy due to the pressure drop. We have always focused on bring the most energy efficient filters to our customers. The majority of our Eurovent rated filters delivered are A or A+.
Circular thinking
Our industry largely follows a linear model, but we recognize the need to shift toward a circular economy. By adopting circular thinking, we aim to reduce resource use and enhance sustainability across the lifecycle of our clean air solutions—without causing new environmental impacts.
Our sustainability framework
To deliver upon our commitment, the strategy for our sustainability journey aligns closely with our vision of advocating for clean air as a fundamental human right. Our Sustainability Framework rests upon four core principles:

UN Sustainable Development Goals
The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to fight inequality, end extreme poverty and protect the world we live in. As Camfil operates globally we embrace the overall targets and we have identified five goals that are the most relevant to our business that enable us to provide the most meaningful global contribution. These are connected to our sustainability goals and KPI’s.

EcoVadis certifications
Camfil Group has forged a partnership with EcoVadis, recognised as one of the world’s largest and most reputable providers of business sustainability ratings. So far 6 countries have achieved EcoVadis ratings; Camfil AG (CH), Camfil Canada Inc. (CA), Camfil Espana SA (ES), Camfil GmbH (DE), Camfil SASU (FR), and Camfil Svenska AB (SE) and our ambition is to increase this number.Sustainability in action
Solar panels in Ipoh, Malaysia
In 2024 the first part of a solar installation was inaugurated in Malaysia. When ready, the solar electricity generation will account for around 30% of the electricity need of the Camfil facility.

The 3 257 m2 photovoltaic panels will generate app. 565 MWh solar electricity annually. This covers close to half of the facility’s electricity need and saves around 150 tonnes of CO2 equivalents.
