AirImage-COR

Real-Time Corrosion Monitor

Corrosion is typically not recognized until it’s too late, resulting in damage that could have been prevented. Camfil’s AirImage-COR corrosion control monitor instantly measures corrosive gases in the air to indicate the corrosivity level of an environment and the threat it poses to sensitive electronics and valuable assets.

Accurate sensors engineered for real-time corrosion monitoring

Sensors engineered for real-time corrosion monitoring

AirImage-COR measures and registers the change over time in the electrical resistance (ER) of a thin metal track applied on an insulating substrate. As the metal corrodes, the cross-sectional area of the track decreases, and resistance increases. The increase in resistance is used to calculate the rate of corrosion.

Corrosion and its effects

Corrosion is a natural process that occurs when metals react with molecular contaminants in the air, resulting in the gradual deterioration of the metal properties. Corrosion can cause damage to machinery, equipment, and museum collections leading to costly repairs, safety hazards, or permanent loss of cultural heritage. Corrosion can also compromise the integrity of electronic components reducing their lifetime and efficiency.

Electrical equipment is essential to the continuous operation of data centers, wastewater treatment plants, or industrial, commercial, and healthcare facilities. To help mitigate the risk of corrosion, standards such as ANSI/ISA-71.04-2013 have been developed to classify the environmental conditions for process measurement and control systems as it pertains to airborne contaminants.

Real-time corrosion monitoring identifies areas requiring air filtration to control corrosive molecular contaminants.

FAQ airimage-cor

The AirImage-COR should be utilized in any industry that has corrosion concerns. These environments include but are not limited to industrial process control rooms and data centers, as well as cultural heritage sites such as museums, art galleries, and archives.

The AirImage-COR measures corrosivity classifications (G1, G2, G3, GX) per ISA Standard 71.04-2013.

The AirImage-COR should be installed in a space representative of the environment to be monitored. The unit can be free-standing or wall mounted.

Yes, there are several connectivity options to connect the AirImage-COR with different building management systems (Analog 4-20 mA, RS485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi).

The AirImage-COR monitors the air corrosivity, temperature, relative humidity, and differential or absolute pressure. The AirImage monitors the PM1, PM2.5, temperature and relative humidity.

Yes, the sensor replacement procedure is described in the user manual.

By measuring air corrosivity levels, the AirImage-COR can help identify potential problems before damage occurs, preventing costly process downtime, unscheduled maintenance, and preserving valuable objects.
